Small Works – Contracts Manager & Estimator/QS

T Manners & Sons Ltd have two exciting new positions we are looking to fill in our Small Works Division. Due to a number of new contracts and long term frameworks wins we have the need to expand our Division, building upon the sustained growth of the past few years. Both roles will be based in our Head Office in Bishop Auckland. These roles give the right candidates opportunity to become big cogs in a fast growing and successful division with a great reputation. Projects you will be involved in will have great variety and can be anything up to circa £500k in value. We carry out works in many interesting locations; these commonly include schools, universities, hospitals, fire stations, police stations, insurance damaged works properties and housing associations properties.

We are looking for self-driven individuals with previous experience delivering jobs with a variety of needs, which require good construction knowledge and problem solving skills. Being part of a tightly knit team you will be involved in all elements of delivering jobs of varying sizes, including:

  • Liaising with clients to assess project requirements.
  • Pricing jobs (size dependant on role) with help from other members of the team
  • Procurement of sub-contractor and supplier quotes
  • Placing orders with sub-contractors and suppliers
  • Co-ordination and resource management of internal workforce
  • Make sure project risks are identified and managed through effective mitigation measures
  • Manage the implementation of designated projects. Ensure the project plan is maintained from inception to completion
  • Monitoring and communicating project financial performance and administration to accounts so that you can review targets against budgets
  • Check and comment on designs and specifications provided by consultants for larger capital projects
  • Monitor working procedures and performance with particular regard to health and safety.
